So I'm on a search for a spectacular Shakedown Street.
5-16-81 as well as 12-26-79 come to mind. Not really looking for anything "spacey" rather one with a great Jerry solo. One with a good Brent jam would be great too. (as in 12-26-79)
Thanks for any suggestions!

06-30-1985 is the best one and it's an excellent recording source

09-18-1987, 12-31-1984, 04-17-1982 and 08-28-1981 are classic 80s versions

11-24-1978, 10-25-1979

09-10-1991 and 12-16-1992

I always loved this song, great beat and nice extended jam.
A few favorites:
7-5-81
7-14-81 These two summer shows featured the slowest, funkiest versions I ever saw.
10-25-79... great Brent Jamming
10-31-79
12-31-81, my personal favorite and the start of the best show I ever saw

alsom kind of surprised that nobody has mentioned 10-30-80. A version of this is being released as bonus footage for the new DVD release of Dead Ahead. Slow and very funky

I vote for 11-24-78. Just when you think it is going to fade into drums at the 8:30 mark, they pick it back up again for another go around for an additional 4 mintues for what can almost be consider a post-Shakedown Jam. Plus, Charlie Miller's SB of this show sounds crystal clear.

I'm surprised no one mentioned 11/5/85. I heard this one before I ever heard 6/30/85 so it holds a special place in my heart. It's my fav.

I have never been a big Shakedown Street fan..until about a month ago and now I can't get enough of it. Listened to a good one just today but can't remember the date..early in the Brent era..79..

I'll have to check some of these out! I really don't have enough Shakedown Street in my collection. The '79 versions are so good, 10-25 being my favorite as well. I would add the 12-09-79 Kiel Auditorium show to the list, it's got some good Brent funkiness.

9.16.78 Egypt. Very different than later versions but very much plays to the setting. Only the second time played. Jerry solos off into the Sahara...

great call...this Shakedown is probably the best thing that they played the whole Egypt run...

a good quality board of this show surfaced a few years back, alot of splices in the Egypt recordings, but 09-16 is pretty darn good...

04-03-90 is great! alson check out 03-30-87 and 10-09-83 from Red Rocks.

And just for shits and giggles check out Phil and Friends 04-15-99 from the Warfield theater with Trey and Page from Phish and Steve Kimock. Very sweet version of that tune with some wild jamming at the end of the tune.

I always hold 12/11/79 in very high esteem. I don't think it's been mentioned yet.

Also:

10/31/79: Brent goes off!!!
1/15/79: perfect segue from Miracle
3/30/87: Jerry puts so much heart into this one
